D.O. Toro
Toro is considered one of the world´s premium wine regions, thanks to the outstanding quality and unmistakable character of its wines.
Toro´s continental climate boasts short hot summers with abundant sunshine, long cold winters, and some of the lowest rainfall levels in Spain. These elements, coupled with strong diurnal temperature variation, create perfect conditions for rich, even ripening of grapes.
Toro’s soils are an undulating blend of light, yellow-colored sand and dark red clay. The heavier clay subsoil efficiently captures the scarce rainfall, while small surface stones found throughout the region also play an important role. These stones absorb the heat of the daytime sun and release it slowly during the night; enhancing the growing cycle of the vine and the development of the grapes.
These unique factors in the D.O. Toro enhance the Tempranillo’s characteristics and produce a wine with ripe tannins, excellent structure and rich, dark fruit flavors.
